Get Driving Directions

Wow, what a year it's been.
And what a pleasure it has been to serve as your President. When Greg Gill takes over on Jan 20th the … huh, what? Only half way through? Well, I guess my work here is not done … which is good because there is so much left to do.

Considering the unprecedented economic times we are go ing through, I am amazed (and humbled) by the zeal and vigor of our Rotarian members to get things done. Many of you exhibit the modesty of the sensible Rotarian just "doing their part" but, I can tell you that, from where I stand, it is truly astonishing to watch you in action. This year our club has started two, hope fully three, high-school level Interact Clubs.

Our involvement with Rotaract at the college level has been unprecedented and there is now excellent reason to believe a second group will soon start on the LBCC campus.

Even with the pounding we've all taken in the stock market, your two Rotary Foundations continue to do great things for our community. Both the LB Rotary Charitable and Scholarship Foundations continue to be managed by great community advocates and we are in debted to their service. It's a real honor to be able to give out some money that will do so much good as we did last week to help Miller Children's Hospital complete their huge under taking.

On the International front the club is participating in no less than a half-dozen grant projects. You'll be hearing more on that in the 2nd half of the year as we re turn to Project Amigo with a group of in defatigable LB Rotarians.

I'm happy to report our attendance is up, the membership pipeline is starting to fill and the fellowship events continue to grow. This holiday season, I have only tremendous gratitude for our hard working directors, all the committee chairs, our great office staff and all of you who have been so giving of your time, money and friendship. You warm my heart. Happy Holidays from my family to yours.
